Board Stands Explained: Three Leg, Four Leg, Revolving, Zig Zag and Telescopic
A wall-mounted board is fixed. A board on a stand moves, which is the whole reason stands exist — the same writing surface serves a training room in the morning and a review meeting in the afternoon.
Plusmark manufactures all types of board stands, and the catalog lists five board stand shapes alongside newspaper stands, magazine stands, file racks, first aid boxes and letter boxes. The catalog lists these by name; dimensions, finishes and load capacity are confirmed on enquiry, because the right answer depends on the board you intend to put on it.
The five board stand shapes
The names describe the geometry, and the geometry decides where the stand is stable and how it behaves when someone writes on it.
| Stand | What the shape gives you | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Three Leg Stand | Three-point base, light to move | Classrooms and training rooms where the board travels between rooms |
| Four Leg Stand | Four-point base, steadier footprint | Rooms where the board stays put and gets written on heavily |
| Revolving Stand | Board turns over on its axis | Two-sided use without lifting or re-hanging the board |
| Zig Zag Stand | Folding frame that packs flat | Storage between sessions and transport between sites |
| Telescopic Stand | Height adjusts | Rooms used by different age groups, or seated and standing use |
Matching the stand to the board
A stand is sized against the board, not chosen on its own. A heavy ceramic steel board and a lightweight melamine board of the same dimensions do not behave the same way on a three-point base, and a double-sided board on a revolving stand is the one combination where the stand shape does real work for you.
Before ordering, settle three things: the board size going on it, whether the board is single or double sided, and whether the room needs the height to change. Send those three with the quantity through the enquiry form and the right model gets confirmed.
Stands are not the only storage products in the range
The same catalog section carries the display and storage items institutions order alongside boards.
- Newspaper Stand and Magazine Stand — reading rooms, libraries, reception areas and lounges
- File Rack — offices and admin blocks where documents are consulted rather than pinned up
- First Aid Box — wall-mounted safety provision for workshops, factories and school blocks
- Letter Box — reception areas, hostels, housing societies and office entrances
- PDS-500 — listed in the same range; ask for its specification when you enquire
What the catalog does not tell you, and why
Board stands are listed by name in the Plusmark catalog rather than with a fixed specification table, because the models are made to the board and the room. That is also why the stand pages ask you to enquire rather than quoting a size chart.
This is not a gap in the range — it is how a made-to-order manufacturing range is documented. If you need a stand for an existing board you already own, send the board dimensions and the stand gets matched to it.
Questions on this topic
- Which board stand is best for a double-sided board?
- A Revolving Stand. The board turns over on its axis, so both writing surfaces are used without lifting or re-hanging the board. Send the board size with your enquiry so the stand is matched to it.
- Does Plusmark make stands for boards you already own?
- Plusmark manufactures all types of board stands, and a stand is matched to the board going on it. Send the board dimensions, whether it is single or double sided, and the quantity required.
