Magnetic Chalk Boards: Resin Coated Steel in Three Series

Magnetic Chalk Boards: Resin Coated Steel in Three Series — Plusmark Display System

Magnetic chalk boards are listed separately from the rest of the chalk range for one reason: the surface underneath the green finish is steel. That steel is what accepts a magnet, and it is fixed at manufacture, so a board ordered non-magnetic cannot be made magnetic later.

Plusmark lists three magnetic chalk board models — Metallic Premium, Deluxe Standard and Eco Regular — each with a resin coated green chalk writing surface that writes smoothly and erases easily.

The three series compared

The surface type is the same across the three; what changes is the frame, the corners and the duty the board is specified for.

Why a school chooses magnetic chalk over plain chalk

Teaching with chalk does not stop a room from needing display. Maps, answer keys, revision sheets, charts and lab diagrams all have to go somewhere, and a magnetic surface puts them on the board itself instead of on the wall beside it.

Holders and magnetic accessories work the same way, which is why the catalog lists compatibility with magnets, charts and holders as a feature rather than an add-on.

Choosing the series

Institutional rooms that run all day — schools, colleges, hostels — are the Metallic Premium case, where heavy-duty framing and Signature Dual-Tone Corners are doing real work. Coaching centres and standard classrooms are the Deluxe Standard case. Tuition classes, home classrooms and small institutions are Eco Regular, where a lightweight frame is easier to handle and install.

If the room does not need magnets at all, the non-magnetic chalk range with Hardcore Chalk Grade HPL Sheet is the economical alternative — it is non-reflective and glare-free with clear visibility from all angles.

Ceramic chalk is the long-life option

For rooms where the board is written on continuously, the ceramic chalk board uses a ceramic steel / porcelain enamel magnetic green surface described in the catalog as scratch-proof, hard and non-porous, with excellent chalk visibility from all angles. It is also magnetic, so display capability is not lost by choosing the harder surface.

Questions on this topic

Do magnetic chalk boards hold charts as well as magnetic white boards?
Yes. Both use resin coated steel surfaces that accept magnets, charts and holders — the difference is the writing type, green chalk surface versus white marker surface.
Which series is right for a school classroom used all day?
Metallic Premium. It carries heavy-duty aluminium framing with Signature Dual-Tone Corners and is listed for schools, colleges, institutions and classrooms. Where the board is written on continuously, the ceramic chalk surface is the long-life specification.
