Boards for Offices: Meeting Rooms, Cabins, Reception and Admin Blocks
Office orders go wrong in one predictable way: the same board is ordered for every room, and then the meeting room board cannot hold a chart, the reception display cannot be changed without a ladder, and the admin notices get pinned to a wall.
Each area has a different job. The Plusmark catalog lists the products for each, and the applications on those products say which room they belong in.
Meeting rooms and planning walls
This is where a magnetic surface earns its keep. Plusmark magnetic white boards use a resin coated steel surface that accepts magnets, and the catalog lists compatibility with magnets, charts and holders — so a planning wall can carry today's writing and this quarter's chart at the same time.
Metallic Premium is listed for high-end offices and professional environments, with High Gloss Marker Grade HPL Sheet on the non-magnetic version and heavy-duty framing with Signature Dual-Tone Corners. Deluxe Standard serves standard offices with Electroplated Chrome Corners for a clean, professional look.
Cabins and small rooms
A cabin needs a writing surface and not much else, which makes the non-magnetic range the sensible order: High Gloss Marker Grade HPL on Metallic Premium and Eco Premium, High Gloss Melamine on Deluxe Standard and Eco Regular. Both write and erase the same way; the difference is the framing and the corners.
Where the cabin wall is narrow, a double-sided board gives marker on one face and chalk on the other in a single frame, with quick wall-mount installation that allows horizontal or vertical hanging.
Admin blocks and staff areas
Notice display is a pin-up job, and the notice board range covers it: 2 mm Blazer Cloth with a soft pin-friendly core for frequent and heavy pin usage on Metallic Premium, 2 mm Blazer Cloth on Eco Premium, and Super Fine Velvet Cloth on Deluxe Standard and Eco Regular.
Where notices have to be controlled — policy documents, statutory notices, circulars that must not be removed by anyone but the custodian — the acrylic door cover boards are the specification, with a transparent acrylic door and a locking system. Combination boards are the alternative where a team needs to write and pin on one board: dry wipe white board on one side, fabric notice board on the other.
Reception and front of house
Reception is a display job, not a pin-up job. Grooved boards hold printed cards in nine landscape and portrait sizes and are listed for hotels, reception areas and leisure centres. Perforated boards — black panels with a golden anodized frame — display information vertically as well as horizontally, and take hooks and holders.
A Letters & Figures Set in 18 mm or 24 mm is what makes either board able to spell out a message, and the Key Hanger Board handles room, cabinet and vehicle keys behind a lockable acrylic door with clear visibility of keys.
Sizing an office order
Work room by room rather than product by product. For each room, settle three things: what has to be written, what has to be displayed, and whether anything needs to be locked.
Send that as a single enquiry with sizes and quantities. Standard white board sizes run from 1 × 1 ft to 3 × 4 ft across the series, and custom sizes are made to requirement.
Questions on this topic
- Which board is best for an office meeting room?
- A magnetic white board. The resin coated steel surface accepts magnets, charts and holders, so the room can carry both working notes and standing displays. Metallic Premium is listed for high-end offices and professional environments.
- What should a reception area use instead of a notice board?
- A grooved board for printed cards, or a perforated board with a golden anodized frame for hooks and inserts, with a Letters & Figures Set to spell out messages. Both are listed for reception areas, hotels and public places.
